Why Choose Hammer & Heart?

Perfect for Educators

Designed with busy teachers in mind, our incursions are easy to book, affordable, and guaranteed to spark student engagement. They’re a fun, hands-on, and memorable way to bring creativity and sustainability into the classroom.

Sustainable & Community-Focused

We minimise waste by sourcing reclaimed timber from local builders and suppliers, breathing new life into offcuts that might otherwise end up in landfill. By partnering locally, we reduce our carbon footprint and strengthen community ties—all while showing children the value of responsible resource use.

Hands-On, Eco-Friendly Tools

Our handmade wooden tools replace plastic alternatives, teaching kids the beauty of creating with care and intention. This holistic approach shows young builders that every choice they make can help protect our planet.

Empowering Young Builders with Heart

We inspire children to roll up their sleeves, work with real tools safely, and experience the joy of building something from scratch. Along the way, they develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a deeper respect for nature—learning best when curiosity, fun, and environmental stewardship come together.

Meet Tom

Tom is a devoted father of two with a love of all things woodwork and construction. Growing up, he helped his father construct their family farmhouse from the ground up, sparking a passion for carpentry and the thrill of making. Today, he pours that same enthusiasm into crafting furniture, building veggie gardens for his family and community, and tackling hands-on projects of all kinds.

Nature and sustainability guide Tom’s work. He loves exploring the outdoors with his kids, encouraging them to respect and care for the environment. Safety is key, and he’s dedicated to teaching children about sustainable craftsmanship—guiding them to build confidence, develop new skills, and nurture a deep respect for their surroundings. Tom finds immense joy in watching young creators discover the excitement of bringing their own ideas to life, and he’s proud to share that passion in every workshop.

Thank You To My Girl

"This journey started when my daughter was three and in her first year of kindergarten. The teachers invited parents to share something meaningful during “show and tell,” so I introduced the class to my passion for woodworking. I brought in real tools—like drills, hammers, and safety gear—and the kids had a blast exploring how to use them. Their excitement was joyous, and the teachers asked me to return for a woodworking session with their other groups in the week. Drawing on my longstanding interest in sustainability and timber sourcing, I naturally wove those topics into each session. Watching the children learn, explore, and build with such enthusiasm ultimately inspired me to start my own woodworking and construction incursion business—because real change begins with them, and our future is theirs to shape."

Our Values

We believe every child deserves the chance to learn practical, hands-on skills in a fun, nurturing setting. By repurposing timber from local sources and partnering with circular waste companies, we’re teaching kids about sustainability and respect for the environment—all while they build their very own creations.

Safety First

We use child-friendly tools and maintain a watchful eye, ensuring a secure learning environment.

Sustainability

From sourcing our materials to teaching children about recycling, sustainability is at the core of what we do.

Inclusivity

Our workshops welcome all children from all backgrounds, and abilities, encouraging collaboration and a sense of belonging.

Curiosity & Confidence

We want every child to walk away with new skills, a spark of curiosity, and a big boost in self-esteem.
